The Position  This is a professional planning position responsible for complex, innovative planning work in one or more areas of redevelopment, current planning, and comprehensive planning. The incumbent assists and works under the general direction of the Planning Manager.   The Candidate  Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration,  or a directly related field with two (2) years of experience required, or Master’s Degree and one year (1) of experience. The City will pay for APA membership and AICP certification.   Compensation & Benefits  The hiring range is $48,000 to $58,000, depending on experience and qualifications. An attractive package of benefits is also provided and includes certification incentive pay, 100% employee healthcare coverage, and several retirement options with a City matching contribution of 4%. Responsibilities  The selected candidate will:  Have the opportunity to take the lead on special projects, including resiliency, sustainability, trail and neighborhood planning  Contribute to revisions of the new Comprehensive Plan and Neighborhood Plan  Attend evening meetings and serve as staff liaison to certain boards, commissions, or public bodies  Assist in making public presentations to various boards, commissions, and the general public  Prepare and/or assist in preparing complex studies/reports relating to redevelopment, current planning, or comprehensive planning issues/strategies  Work in one or more areas of redevelopment, current planning and comprehensive planning  Serve as planning professional on one or more complex assignments as determined by the Planning Manager  Review public/private development proposals and makes recommendations to the Planning Manager in accordance with City codes, ordinances, and adopted plans  Assist in providing staff review and comments on site plans as necessary  Conduct fieldwork as necessary related to redevelopment, current planning and comprehensive planning  Perform research and associated work as required
